Zain Kuwait has selected US-based Cisco to deploy Standalone (SA) 5G network technology, aiming to deliver ‘high value for B2B services’, the operator announced on its website. Highlighting that its 5G (Non-Standalone) traffic accounts for more than 40% of its total mobile and fixed wireless traffic, Zain Kuwait stated that ‘SA is the future of 5G, allowing it to reach its full potential by increasing coverage and laying a foundation for applications that harness the fast speed and low latency of 5G.’ The release continued: ‘Cisco 5G SA will enable the introduction of a plethora of new Network-as-a-Service (NaaS) offerings, essentially cloud-enabled, usage-based business models that help enable Zain’s customers to acquire and orchestrate network capabilities without creating, owning or maintaining their own network infrastructure. Cisco new 5G SA core capability will allow Zain to monetise the security features tailored as value added security services for the enterprise market.’

Adam MacHale, Vice President, EMEAR Service Provider at Cisco, said: ‘Cisco is proud to play a role in helping Zain Kuwait with its network technology innovation, offering differentiated 5G B2B and IoT services specifically suited to business’s needs. Our proven flexible 5G SA architecture will enable Zain to offer its users 5G services with low latency and high capacity whilst providing secure, trusted solutions and establishing premium value with its customers.’
