Indonesia’s Telekomunikasi Selular (Telkomsel) and Swedish equipment manufacturer Ericsson have renewed their longstanding partnership to further develop the former’s 4G LTE and 5G network footprint in the country.

In a press release, the gear maker confirmed the deployment of its ‘energy-efficient’ 5G Radio Access Network (RAN) products and solutions from the Ericsson Radio System in Aceh, Northern Sumatra, Central & West Sumatra and Eastern part of Kalimantan, including New Capitol City (Nusantara). Further, Ericsson noted that in the B2B arena, it had ’pioneered’ a 5G deployment in ‘a leading manufacturing company in Batam since 2021’. Ericsson is powering Telkomsel’s network with its ultra-lightweight, energy-efficient Massive MIMO antenna integrated radio AIR 3219 that will serve to address future 5G and Fixed Wireless Access and Convergence (FWA/FMC) requirements.
