China Mobile added only 474,000 customers in August, down from 614,000 customers in July, and more than 2.27 million in June. The company ended the month with a total of 986.4 million mobile customers. China Telecom added 960,000 mobile subscribers in August, ending the month with 403.65 million users.
China Unicom closed August with 947.21 million ‘Big connectivity’ customers, up from 936.51 million the month before. The company’s 5G subscriber base advanced to 243.07 million from 238.18 million in July, and IoT terminal connections increased to 459.66 million in August from 451.37 million in July.
China Mobile added around 6.8 million 5G customers in August, compared to 4.5 million in July. China Mobile ended August with a total of 733.17 million 5G customers. China Telecom added a smaller 4.83 million 5G customers in the month, for a total of 302.98 million.
On the wireline broadband market, China Mobile brought in more than 2.2 million customers in the month, for a total of 290.45 million. China Telecom added 910,000 wireline broadband customers, for a total of 187.77 million at end-August.
