Norway’s Ministry of Local Government and District (Kommunal- og distriktsdepartement, KDD) has announced that a scheme allowing priority access for personnel with ‘socially critical tasks’ to the country’s mobile network is to be renewed and expanded.
With the current scheme only offering priority for voice calls over 2G networks to those who register, it has been confirmed that the updated arrangements will apply to both 4G and 5G infrastructure, while also covering both voice and data access. All three of the country’s mobile network operators (MNOs) – Telenor Norge, Telia Norge and ice – will reportedly implement the new priority solution by September 2023.
